But the fact is there are many times when the written report is something that gives you little or no value. What you really need is a low cost energy examination of your home so you can use your money for practical fixes that will help keep you warm and save you money over time.

Another problem with many energy audits (and auditors) is a conflict of interest in their recommendations. Many energy auditors use the audit as a tool for finding work. So the inspection might even be advertised as "free" but not surprisingly the solutions recommended just happen to be the very things that the auditor does for money. Or the recommended contractors have a finanacial arrangement with the auditor.

With that in mind and in response to my clients I developed the Cost-Effective Home Energy Audit. This service is meant to meet the following 3 criteria;

The fact is that the largest cost item for me as an inspector is the time it takes to write the report, not do the examination. Writing the report takes up to 2/3's of the total time and therefore represents 2/3's of the price I have to charge for the traditional audit with full written report. Step 1 - The Cost-Effective Home Energy Audit starts with an interview or discussion so I can be aware of any particular areas of concern you might have. As well as give you some ideas on how to get the most out of my inspectio of your home.

Step 2 - Then we'll look at the home inside and out. Using the Infrared Thermal Imaging camera to help me detect insulation and heat loss issues. Explaining what I see and what fixes and upgrades would make sense. While you take notes or tag the things we find.
